Prototyping an ATM : Vacuum pump piston housing
NCR, National Cash Registers comissioned Cybaman Technologies to conduct a series of trials on the cash register pump piston housing.
The piston pump is used to lift and count each note dispensed, and requires a smooth bore inorder to create a vacuum.
3D printed prototypes were initially produced but they were unable to achieve the high surface finish required on the piston bore.
Using the cybaman Replicator and hyperMill to machine the part, a smooth bore was achieved and a working prototype was machined on all sides without refixturing within 2hrs.
